During the studio on the 11th of March, we were assigned to create a wallet for a partner. We first started off by receiving a booklet to help create the ideal wallet.

STEP 1

This was my first brainstorm, we got 3 minutes to draw our idea here. Which was not enough time for me to draw out many ideas.

STEP 2

After drawing ideas, we had to do an interview with our partner to create something that was connected to them and that they had some relation.

Robert said that he uses his wallet every-time he goes out and uses it to store everything.

STEP 3

During this step, we had to explore what we had found out during the interview, From step 2, I found out that Robert uses his wallet everywhere so he wanted to be more organised so he is prepared just incase of an emergency.

STEP 4

Step 4 was to sketch out different ideas to help my partners needs. I came up with 4 different sketches that would suit his style and what he is looking for.

I tried to come up with basic ideas and simple as he wanted to use these things to be more organised, I thought that it would be better for the actual design to be simple as it can help with organising.

STEP 5

After getting feedback, he did not want a bag rather a bigger wallet instead. So from my concepts, I further created a development idea to help with his organising.

My idea was to create a big and long wallet so that he can keep everything he needs.

STEP 6

This step was to create a prototype based from out design ideas using paper and pipe cleaners.

This was the prototype that I created.

Overall this design process helped me understand what it means to create a product for a client and ways to help satisfy the client to match their perfect needs.

Next time if I were to do this project, I would try and come up with a more innovative idea instead of just a simple idea.
