"The Darkness descends
nocturnal beast come to feast
craving for lost souls."
(Kay, Nov. 2014)
Poster 1

Shadows. Size: 40cm x 40cm Technique: Drawing Shadows is a drawing that was created through pencil and vivid. I created this poster through the theme of 'shadows' as I thought it portrayed my Haiku the best because from reading my Haiku, I felt as if a shadow is watching over and when the darkness approaches I becomes night which is when the shadows come out. Which is why I chose to use the figure on the left and then the shadows coming out onto the right side. I used repetition, layers, patterns and negative and positive to help create this poster. I wanted to portray the idea of a figure and the shadows that following along. One thing I struggled was it was hard to keep the stencil still and make all the lines the same which created wonky lines. Next time, I would either use a more strutted stencil or use photoshop to help create even lines.
Poster 2

The Stolen Souls
Technique: Photoshop, Digital Illustration
Size: 40cm x 40cm
For my movie poster, I wanted to create a poster for a horror film. The inspiration behind my poster was the retro horror film style. One of my main inspirations I followed along with this movie poster was K-pop girl band, Red Velvet's Bad Boy concept photos (SM Ent. 2018) and music video. I used a similar font and help pulled inspiration from the title. This can be seen from my research mood board above. I like that my poster had the same colour palette and the use of rule of thirds helps create symmetry and a good composition that is easy for the eye to read. Through my poster, I was able to explore into the use of rule of thirds, colour theory, grouping, negative & positive and layers. However, for next time to help improve my poster I would try and incorporate more colours - such as complementary colours to create more depth.
Poster 3

The Forest of Souls
Size: 40cmx40cm
Technique: Photoshop, Adobe Draw, Digital Illustration
This is my poster 3 called "The Forest of Souls." This storyline follows along a man with a money addiction, as he gets lured into the forest of souls where people with bad problems are taken away. He gets lured in, however, wakes up from his dream but in the last scene you can see that the souls and demons are still underneath his bed, meaning that it wasn't just a dream but something he is facing/foreshadowing what he will have to face from his own "demons". From my final poster, Something good was that I create a cohesive piece of work that all match and have the same style. I like the way I used colour theory to help portray and create depth behind my poster instead of just using random colours, however, next time I would try and include more colours to help develop my skills. I tried using a different skill to my previous posters so I chose to try digital drawing.
